Bhajan Circle began the way most good things in a community begin — with a few familiar voices, a harmonium, and an evening set aside for singing together. What started in our own homes has grown into a gathering that our Arya Samaj family looks forward to: an hour or two where the day is set down, and the singing carries the rest.

We sing in the spirit of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati — turning towards the one formless divine, in the plain and honest language of bhajan. There is no stage here in the ordinary sense. The singers sit with you, the words are printed for everyone, and the second verse always sounds better than the first because by then the whole hall has joined in.

Come as you are, and bring your family with you. Grandparents, grandchildren, and those who have never sung a bhajan in their lives — all of them belong in this circle. Sit for a while, sing if you feel like singing, listen if you would rather listen, and stay afterwards for prasad and a word with the people around you.
